**Honolulu, HI (October 9, 2023):** Hawaii is expected to experience mostly sunny skies with scattered showers throughout the week, according to the National Weather Service.

**Today:** Enjoy mostly sunny skies with highs reaching 85 to 92 degrees near the shore and around 76 degrees above 3000 feet. Northeast winds up to 15 mph will shift to the south in the afternoon.

**Tonight:** Partly cloudy skies with isolated showers after midnight. Lows will range from 72 near the shore to 61 above 3000 feet. Northeast winds up to 10 mph. Chance of rain is 20%.

**Columbus Day:** Mostly sunny skies in the morning with isolated showers throughout the day. Highs will be 86 to 91 near the shore and around 76 above 3000 feet. East winds up to 15 mph. Chance of rain is 20%.

**Outlook:** Trade winds will continue through Monday and strengthen into the moderate to locally breezy range from Monday night onward. Shower activity will increase from tonight into Monday as a weak trough moves westward across the state. Another increase in showers is expected from Thursday into Saturday as another weak disturbance moves down the island chain.

**Surf:** A small, long period south (180 degree) swell will begin to fade through the day, decreasing south shore surf. West-facing shore surf will remain elevated and increase through tomorrow due to the influence of the north swell wrap. East-facing shore wind waves will remain relatively small under this recent weaker trade regime. East chop will pick back up through Tuesday in response to strengthening trades.

**High Surf Advisory:** A High Surf Advisory is in effect from 6 AM Monday to 6 PM HST Tuesday for north facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island.
