Mon Oct 14 00:01:58 UTC 2024: ## Cameron Green’s Injury Could Pave the Way for Bancroft’s Return to Australian Test Team
**Sydney, 13 October:** Former Australian captain Mark Taylor believes that all-rounder Cameron Green’s injury could open the door for Cameron Bancroft’s return to Test cricket in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India next month.
Green is reportedly set to miss the five-match series due to a stress fracture in his lower back and will undergo surgery. This is the fourth time the 25-year-old has suffered a stress fracture in his back, raising concerns about his long-term fitness.
With Green’s absence, Australia will have to make adjustments to their batting order. Taylor feels that the team should consider bringing back Bancroft, who has been in exceptional form in the Sheffield Shield, after a controversial exit in 2018.
Taylor believes that Steve Smith should return to his preferred batting position at number four, leaving the opening slot vacant. While Usman Khawaja is likely to retain his place, the other opening spot could be filled by Bancroft.
The former captain also suggested that young batsman Sam Consta, who has been impressive in the Sheffield Shield with back-to-back centuries, could also be considered for the tour.
The five-match series against India starts on November 22nd in Perth.
