Mon Oct 14 14:23:07 UTC 2024: ## Kannada Actor Darshan Remains in Custody, Bail Denied in Murder Case

**Ballari, Karnataka:** Kannada film star Darshan Thoogudeepa, currently in custody for the murder of Renukaswamy, has been denied bail by a Special Court of Public Representatives. The court also rejected a bail plea for Pavithra Gowda, an associate of Darshan, who is also implicated in the case.

Darshan is currently lodged in the Ballari Central Prison, while Pavithra Gowda is detained in Bengaluru’s Parappana Agrahara. A total of 17 individuals are facing charges in connection with Renukaswamy’s murder.

Police investigations allege that Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan of Darshan, sent lewd texts to Pavithra Gowda. This angered Darshan, leading to the fatal assault. Renukaswamy was allegedly lured to a shed in R R Nagar by Raghavendra, a member of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, under the pretense of a meeting with the actor. He was subsequently murdered and tortured at the shed.

The post-mortem revealed blunt force trauma as the cause of death. Police investigations have identified Pavithra Gowda as the primary instigator of the crime, accusing her of plotting and participating in the murder.

The 13 other accused, including Pavithra Gowda, were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days on June 20th.
