Mon Oct 14 10:02:20 UTC 2024: ## India Accuses Canada of Politically Motivated Accusations in Khalistani Terrorist Case
**New Delhi:** India has vehemently condemned Canada’s inclusion of Indian diplomats, including the High Commissioner, in a list of “persons of interest” related to the investigation of the Khalistani terrorist, Nijjar’s murder. India has termed the accusations as baseless and politically motivated.
The Canadian government has failed to provide any evidence to support its allegations, despite India’s repeated requests for the same. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stated that Prime Minister Trudeau’s government has been pursuing a hostile agenda against India since 2018, particularly by accommodating separatists and interfering in Indian domestic politics.
India has also expressed concern over the inclusion of the Indian High Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar Verma, who has over 36 years of diplomatic experience, in the list of suspects.
India further highlights that despite Prime Minister Trudeau’s accusations in 2023, Canada has not provided any supporting evidence. India is urging Canada to take strong action against anti-India activities and address the issue constructively.
During the ASEAN summit in Laos, Prime Minister Modi and Trudeau met briefly, but no discussion took place. Indian officials confirmed that the two leaders simply crossed paths.
This recent incident further escalates the already strained relations between India and Canada.
