**Mumbai, India** – Former Maharashtra Minister and NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, a prominent Muslim leader known for his close ties to Bollywood stars, was shot dead on Saturday night in Mumbai. Three assailants are believed to be responsible for the murder.

A social media post, allegedly from a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Shubuu Lonkar, has claimed responsibility for the killing. The post, which went viral, cites Siddiqui’s alleged connections to Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim as the motive for the attack. The post also mentions the death of Anuj Thapan, a suspect in the shooting outside Khan’s house, as a contributing factor.

“Salman Khan, we don’t want this war, but you have harmed our brother…we have no enmity with anyone, but whoever helps Salman Khan or Dawood gang, keep your accounts in check,” the post reads.

The Mumbai Police are currently investigating the authenticity of the social media post and are verifying the claims made in it.

This incident comes to light amidst a resurfaced video call from June 2024 featuring Bishnoi and a Pakistani gangster. In the video, Bishnoi, who is currently in prison in Gujarat, sends greetings to Shahzad Bhatti, a gangster from Pakistan.

The murder of Baba Siddiqui has sent shockwaves through the city of Mumbai and has raised concerns about the growing influence of organized crime and gang warfare. The Mumbai Police have initiated a full-scale investigation into the incident, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.
