**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** The Samajwadi Party (SP) has alleged a BJP conspiracy behind the recent violence in Bahraich, sharing a video of the deceased youth, Gopal, shortly before his death. The party claims that Gopal was instigated to act violently and that the incident is a result of intelligence failure, police failure, and a BJP plot.
SP’s media cell posted on X, “Gopal forcefully entered a Muslim household, removed a green flag, and forcibly hoisted a saffron flag.” Questioning the motive, the party asked, “Who instilled this poison in the mind of this innocent Gopal? It is not difficult to understand who is involved in this conspiracy. The BJP and its power-hungry leaders are involved, who want to win the next election by pushing UP’s atmosphere into riots.”
The SP further blamed the incident on intelligence and police failure, accusing the BJP of orchestrating the violence to gain political advantage. The party urged the BJP to examine the incident from the angle of a conspiracy, not a Hindu-Muslim divide, to reveal the truth.
The violence erupted in the Mahsi Tehsil during a procession when a group started pelting stones at Abdul Hamid’s house. When confronted, they fired shots, killing Ram Gopal Mishra and injuring over 15 others. Subsequent days saw escalating tensions with the crowd setting vehicles on fire and clashing with police.
The administration was forced to use force to disperse the crowd, which demanded strict action against those responsible. The situation remained tense, prompting the deployment of ADG Law & Order Amitabh Yash to assess the situation and submit a report.
The incident has raised questions about the police preparedness and security arrangements during the festive season, with the SP holding the BJP responsible for the unrest and demanding strict action against the perpetrators.
