**Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh:** A peaceful Durga Visarjan procession turned violent on Thursday evening in Bahraich, leaving one man dead and sparking widespread unrest. The incident occurred when a heated argument over loud music and slogans escalated into a full-blown clash between two groups.

Ram Gopal Mishra, a 22-year-old resident of Rehua Mansur village, was shot dead during the altercation near the Mahrajganj market. Reports indicate that Mishra was walking ahead of the procession when the argument took place. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the Bahraich Medical College, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased’s body riddled with bullet marks sparked outrage amongst the crowd. Witnesses report seeing over half a dozen bullet wounds and several injuries on Mishra’s body. This led to the protesters carrying his body to the Medical College gate, demanding swift action against the perpetrators.

In response to the escalating situation, the District Administration, along with local BJP MLA Sureshwar Singh, tried to pacify the crowd but faced strong resistance. The unrest spread to Mahrajganj, where angry protesters vandalized and set fire to vehicles, including the home of the accused, Abdul Hamid.

The incident led to a suspension of the Visarjan processions across the district. The authorities later restored order with the help of deployed forces.

The incident has shaken the district, with the deceased’s family and community members demanding justice. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police were seen on the ground, trying to control the situation. They have assured the public that the video footage will be analyzed to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

The police have initiated an investigation, and 25 individuals have been identified as potential suspects. The deceased’s family is currently refusing to perform his last rites, demanding a swift and transparent investigation into the incident.
