Sun Oct 13 12:21:45 UTC 2024: ## Youngsters Take Center Stage as India Celebrates Bangladesh T20I Series Sweep
Hyderabad, India – In a heartwarming gesture, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav continued a tradition of empowering young talent by allowing debutants Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy to lift the trophy following India’s dominant 3-0 victory over Bangladesh in the T20I series.
Both players, who made their international debuts in the first T20I in Gwalior, impressed throughout the series. Mayank Yadav, known for his blistering pace for the Lucknow Super Giants, took 4 wickets across the three matches, showcasing his potential as a future star. Nitish Reddy, a versatile all-rounder from Sunrisers Hyderabad, contributed both with the bat, scoring a maiden half-century in Delhi, and the ball, taking three wickets in the series.
Indian coach Gautam Gambhir took to X to celebrate the victory, sharing an image of the team raising the trophy with SKY handing it to the two youngsters. “A tour de force!” he captioned the post, alongside an Indian flag.
This gesture follows a similar trend set by previous Indian captains, who often allow debutants to share the trophy-lifting moment, fostering a sense of inclusivity and encouragement for the future generation of cricketers. Earlier this year, Shubman Gill, leading the side in a 5-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, shared the trophy with several debutants.
India will now turn their focus to the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, with the first of three matches scheduled to begin in Bangalore on October 16.
