**Mumbai, India:** Baba Siddique, a prominent Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead by unidentified attackers in Mumbai on Saturday night. The incident occurred outside his son’s office in Nirmal Nagar, sending shockwaves across the state.

Three attackers, reportedly from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, fired two to three rounds at Siddique before fleeing the scene. Despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The killing has sparked outrage and condemnation from political leaders across the country, with many criticizing the state government’s handling of law and order.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed the arrest of two suspects in connection with the shooting, while a third remains at large. He also assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described the incident as “horrifying” and accused the Maharashtra government of a “complete collapse of law and order.” He demanded justice for Siddique and urged the government to take responsibility.

NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar condemned the shooting, saying it was “regrettable” that such an incident occurred in Mumbai, the financial capital of India. He attributed the incident to the state’s “collapsed law and order situation” and called for the resignation of the ruling government.

Other leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi of the AIMIM, Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and Congress leaders DK Shivakumar, K C Venugopal, and Mallikarjun Kharge, expressed their shock and grief over the incident, demanding a swift and transparent investigation to ensure justice for Siddique.

Several leaders, including Ashok Chavan, a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, highlighted Siddique’s dedication to serving the people and his efforts to promote communal harmony.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav also condemned the incident, raising concerns about the rising crime rate in Maharashtra under the NDA rule.

The killing of Baba Siddique has sent shockwaves across the country, prompting calls for action from political leaders and raising serious questions about the state of law and order in Maharashtra.
