Sun Oct 13 15:16:09 UTC 2024: ## South Indian Actress Oviya Targeted by Fake Video, Responds with Humor

**TRISSUR, INDIA:** South Indian actress Oviya, known for her roles in Tamil films and her stint on the reality show “Bigg Boss Tamil,” is facing online harassment after a private video purportedly featuring her was circulated on social media. The video, which has been widely shared on the X platform with the hashtag #OviyaLeaked, has attracted a barrage of hateful comments and ridicule.

While the authenticity of the video remains in question, some users claim it is real, citing a matching tattoo on the woman’s hand. Others believe it to be a deepfake, a digitally manipulated video that uses AI technology to convincingly replace a person’s face.

Despite the negativity, Oviya has chosen to respond with humor. To a comment about the video’s short duration, she quipped, “Enjoy it.” When another user requested a longer video, she replied, “Next time maybe.”

This incident follows a disturbing trend of actors and actresses becoming victims of deepfake videos, which have been used to spread misinformation and create harmful content.

Oviya, whose real name is Oviya Helen, made her film debut in the Malayalam film “Kangaroo” in 2007, starring alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran. She later transitioned to Tamil cinema, where she gained considerable popularity. Her appearance on “Bigg Boss Tamil” further boosted her fame.

Oviya’s latest film was “Boomer Uncle.”

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of online harassment and the need for responsible content sharing.
