Sat Oct 12 16:50:00 UTC 2024: ## NCP Leader Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai
Mumbai, India – Senior NCP leader and close confidant of Ajit Pawar, Baba Siddique, was shot dead outside his office in Mumbai’s Nirmal Nagar area on Tuesday night. The attack took place around 9pm when unidentified assailants fired two to three rounds at Siddique, hitting him in the chest. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but succumbed to his injuries despite immediate medical attention.
A close associate of Siddique was also injured in the attack, sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. The incident sent shockwaves through the political circles of Mumbai and the state.
Following the news of the attack, NCP leaders, including Ajit Pawar, rushed to the hospital. Actor Sanjay Dutt, a close friend of the deceased, also visited the hospital. Ajit Pawar reportedly contacted the doctors at Lilavati Hospital to inquire about the situation.
The incident comes just hours after two separate Dussehra rallies were held in Mumbai – one by the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena and the other by the Eknath Shinde faction. Aditya Thackeray, in his address, accused the ruling BJP and Eknath Shinde of corruption, targeting them specifically over alleged corruption in Mumbai’s road construction projects. He also mocked Shinde and Education Minister Deepak Kesarkar.
The police are investigating the attack on Baba Siddique. Further details are awaited.
