Fri Oct 11 15:10:44 UTC 2024: ## “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” Falls Flat Despite Nostalgic Setting and Star Power

**New Delhi:** Despite a star-studded cast featuring Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri, and a nostalgic 90s setting, the new film “Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” has failed to impress critics. Director Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for his unconventional stories, seems to have missed the mark with this latest offering.

The film centers around Vicky and Vidya, a couple whose honeymoon video gets stolen, leading them into a world of video rackets and shady characters. While the premise holds promise, the execution falls short, leaving audiences questioning the film’s purpose.

Critics point to the film’s over-the-top characters, including a tobacco-chewing mother and a one-eyed father, who come across as caricatures rather than believable individuals. The plot, while initially entertaining, quickly becomes stretched and irrelevant, with subplots feeling forced and out of place.

The writing, co-written and directed by Shaandilyaa, is also criticized for its tedious slapstick humor and bizarre plot lines. Despite cameos and twists, the film fails to entertain, a disappointing turn for a director known for hits like “Dream Girl.”

While Rajkummar Rao delivers a performance that’s a far cry from his usual small-town charm, Triptii Dimri, who has gained popularity since her role in “Animal”, doesn’t leave a lasting impression. Vijay Raaz, despite his exceptional acting skills, is hindered by the weak writing and presentation of his character. Mallika Sherawat’s comeback role, while given ample screen time, feels unnecessary.

“Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video” may appeal to die-hard fans of Rajkummar Rao and Vijay Raaz, but for most viewers, it’s a skippable film that can be safely awaited for its OTT release.
