Fri Oct 11 15:13:12 UTC 2024: ## Delhi CM Evicted From Official Residence: Political Row Erupts

**New Delhi:** In a dramatic turn of events, the Delhi Chief Minister, Atishi, was evicted from her official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines, by the Central government. This controversial move comes just three days after Atishi took over the residence from former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) cited the reason for the eviction as the official residence not being allocated to Atishi. The Chief Minister’s office, however, termed the eviction as an “unprecedented move” and alleged it to be an attempt by the Lieutenant Governor to hand over the residence to a senior BJP leader. They further stated that it is the first time in history that a Chief Minister has been evicted from their official residence.

The CPWD officials arrived at the residence around 11:30 AM on Wednesday and demanded immediate vacating of the premises. They took possession of the residence by 2 PM after seizing the keys and sealing the property. Despite a letter from Atishi requesting the allocation of the residence following Kejriwal’s resignation, no action was taken.

While Arvind Kejriwal has resided at this address since becoming Chief Minister, the Delhi Flagstaff Road residence has never been officially designated as the Chief Minister’s official residence. Currently, the residence is under investigation by the CBI for alleged corruption in renovations.

This eviction has sparked a major political controversy, with accusations flying between the ruling BJP and the opposition AAP. The AAP has alleged that the eviction is a politically motivated move to target their party leaders.
