Fri Oct 11 04:44:30 UTC 2024: ## Former DMK Mouthpiece Editor and Stalin’s Brother-in-Law Passes Away
**Chennai, India -** Murasoli Selvam, the brother-in-law of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and former editor of the DMK mouthpiece ‘Murasoli’, passed away on Thursday at his residence in Bengaluru. He was 84 years old.
Selvam, a prominent figure within the DMK family, was known for his sharp writing and served as a key ideological supporter of the party for decades. He was married to Stalin’s sister, Selvi, and was the nephew of the late DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi.
Selvam’s passing marks the end of a significant chapter for the DMK. Chief Minister Stalin, in a heartfelt tribute on X, called him “the ideological pillar and the last shoulder I could lean on.” Stalin expressed his grief, stating that Selvam had been his “brother-guide” since childhood, offering advice and support throughout his life.
Selvam’s articles in ‘Murasoli’, often written under the pseudonym Silandhi, were known for their clarity and defense of the party’s ideology, particularly during challenging periods like the DMK’s brief alliance with the BJP. He also ventured into Tamil film production.
Selvam’s passing has left a void within the DMK and in the Tamil Nadu political landscape. His contributions to the party’s ideology and his close relationship with the Chief Minister will be deeply missed.
