**Stockholm:** The prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for 2024 has been awarded to the Nihon Hidankyo, a Japanese organization dedicated to supporting the victims of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings.

The organization, known as Hibakusha, has been actively campaigning for a nuclear-free world and advocating for the recognition and remembrance of those affected by the atomic bombs. Their efforts have focused on highlighting the long-term consequences of nuclear weapons, both physically and emotionally, and urging the world to prevent future nuclear disasters.

“We honor the survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki who continue to live with the physical and emotional scars of the atomic bombs,” stated the Nobel Committee. “We believe this award recognizes their invaluable experiences and their continued fight for peace and disarmament.”

Nihon Hidankyo represents survivors and advocates for their rights across 47 Japanese prefectures. The Nobel Peace Prize recognizes their tireless efforts in promoting peace and preventing the use of nuclear weapons.

The Nobel Peace Prize is the latest award announced in this year’s Nobel Prize season, which began with the awarding of the Nobel Prize in Medicine on October 14th. The Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, and Literature have also been awarded. The Nobel Prize in Economics is scheduled to be announced on October 14th.
