**Brazilian football star Neymar is reportedly close to purchasing his own private island off the coast of Brazil for a staggering £7 million.** The six-acre tropical island, named Japao Private Island, is located in the picturesque bay of Angra dos Reis, southwest of Rio de Janeiro. It boasts a stunning beach, a main Indonesian-style villa with two master suites and a koi fish pond, and three sea-view bungalows.

Neymar’s interest in the island was sparked after its Canadian owner slashed the asking price by over £3 million. According to Brazilian journalist Leo Dias, Neymar and Dubai property investor Sheik Muhammad Binghatti have already paid over £40,000 to rent the island later this month for a “test drive.”

The luxurious hideaway, which can accommodate up to 10 guests, is accessible only by boat or helicopter. A helicopter ride from Rio de Janeiro’s International Airport takes about 35 minutes.

This purchase would add to Neymar’s already impressive real estate portfolio. He already owns a six-bedroom mansion with a helipad, gym, tennis court, and jetty in Mangaratiba. He also owns a glass-fronted palace in Alphaville, near Sao Paulo, which features a squash court, a massive swimming pool, a panoramic lift, and a garage that can fit 20 cars.

Neymar, 32, currently plays for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia after spending six years with Paris Saint-Germain. He was recently linked with a return to his former club, Barcelona, but that deal appears to be unlikely.
