Fri Oct 11 14:58:03 UTC 2024: ## Delhi LG Forces Atishi to Leave Official Residence: AAP Alleges
**New Delhi:** In a dramatic escalation of the ongoing power struggle between the central and Delhi governments, AAP has accused the Lieutenant Governor (LG) of forcibly removing Chief Minister Atishi from her official residence. According to AAP, PWD officials, acting on the LG’s instructions, removed all of Atishi’s belongings from the Chief Minister’s residence.
The move comes amid reports that Atishi was set to move into the residence vacated by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal, who had stepped down after being granted bail in the excise policy case, had left the residence last Friday. The BJP had alleged that the rushed handover was an attempt to cover up corruption in renovation work.
A video showing PWD officials removing Atishi’s belongings has been shared on social media.
“This is the first time in India’s history that an elected Chief Minister has been treated this way,” AAP stated, terming the incident as “petty” and “unprecedented”.
Atishi, who currently resides in her constituency in Kalkaji, is the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi.
The BJP has alleged that Kejriwal had spent crores on lavishly renovating the official residence and that the sudden handover was a desperate attempt to hide the corruption.
The incident has further intensified the political tension between the ruling AAP and the BJP-led central government, which has been at odds over the control of the Delhi administration.
