Thu Oct 10 18:28:45 UTC 2024: ## Fiji Launches “Bin it or Bag it” Campaign to Tackle Litter Problem

**Nadi, Fiji -** In a significant step towards sustainable tourism, Tourism Fiji has launched the “Bin it or Bag it” campaign, aimed at reducing litter and promoting a cleaner Fiji. The initiative, born from the 2023 Fiji Tourism Convention, is a collaborative effort between the tourism industry, private sector companies, and local artists.

The campaign, which has already received over FJ$100,000 in funding and support from nearly 15 partners, emphasizes responsible waste disposal. It encourages both Fijians and tourists to either use designated bins or, if none are readily available, to store their waste in a bag until they can dispose of it properly.

The campaign features a catchy jingle, uniquely Fijian illustrations, and a new mascot, “Kasikasi,” who promotes responsible waste management. Reusable bags bearing the campaign slogan are also available at various outlets throughout Fiji.

“This initiative embodies our commitment to sustainable tourism practices and highlights the collective responsibility we share in safeguarding Fiji’s environment,” said Brent Hill, CEO of Tourism Fiji. “We encourage all Fijians and visitors to embrace the ethos of Bin it or Bag it.”

The “Bin it or Bag it” campaign is being promoted across billboards, newspapers, radio, and digital platforms. Tourism Fiji has also worked closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and the Ministry for Environment and Climate Change to align with national sustainability goals.

“We believe when community, industry, and Government come together they are a powerful driver for positive change,” said Srishti Narayan, Chief Marketing Officer of Tourism Fiji. “We appreciate our numerous partners who have joined us in this endeavor, and we encourage everyone to join the movement for a cleaner, greener Fiji.”
