Thu Oct 10 17:21:20 UTC 2024: ## Delhi’s Political Tug-of-War Escalates as Atishi’s Bungalow is Sealed

**New Delhi:** A bizarre political battle erupted in Delhi on Wednesday as the Public Works Department (PWD) sealed 6, Flag Staff Road, the bungalow Chief Minister Atishi moved into just days prior. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) immediately accused the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of “forcibly” evicting Atishi and removing her belongings, alleging a bid to occupy the Chief Minister’s residence.

The LG’s office countered that the house was sealed for inventory purposes before being allotted to the incumbent Chief Minister. Meanwhile, the BJP demanded a comprehensive investigation into the bungalow, which has been embroiled in controversy for months due to allegations of excessive renovations by former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The drama began on Monday when Atishi moved into the bungalow after Kejriwal vacated it. PWD officials, however, claimed the residence was not officially allocated to her and that they did not have the keys.

The AAP, through MP Sanjay Singh, argued that Atishi was the rightful allottee as Chief Minister but was denied the residence due to pressure from the BJP. They also shared videos showing CMO officials allegedly removing her belongings from the bungalow.

A senior PWD official maintained that the department had not received the keys back despite communication with the Chief Minister’s office and had sealed the bungalow to prevent any unauthorized access.

The LG’s office, echoing PWD’s stance, stated that the bungalow was not designated as the Chief Minister’s house and that Atishi had moved her belongings without proper allotment.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva welcomed the sealing, calling it a step towards fulfilling public aspirations. He also demanded a video graphic survey of the building to uncover any hidden details.

This latest political tussle adds another layer of complexity to the already strained relations between the AAP government and the LG, further deepening the political divide in the national capital.
