**Chennai:** Murasoli Selvam, former editor of the DMK’s mouthpiece ‘Murasoli’ and the husband of DMK leader Selvi, passed away on [Date] morning at the age of 84. He was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru due to age-related ailments.

Selvam, a close confidante of former DMK chief and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, served as the ‘Murasoli’ editor for over 50 years. He was known for his sharp wit and his strong commitment to the Dravidian ideology.

Selvam’s demise has sent shockwaves across Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who visited Selvam’s residence in Gopalapuram to pay his respects, expressed deep sorrow and said that his passing was a personal loss. “Selvam was like a brother to me, a guide, and a constant source of support. He was a pillar of the Dravidian movement and his contributions will be remembered forever,” Stalin said.

Several other prominent DMK leaders, including Udhayanidhi Stalin, Duraimurugan, and A. Raja, also paid their respects to Selvam. His body was brought to Gopalapuram for public viewing and condolences.
