**Kollam, Kerala:** Renowned Malayalam actor TP Madhavan passed away on Wednesday, October 9th, at the age of 88. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kollam district due to stomach-related ailments. His funeral will be held in Shanthi Kavadam, Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday, October 10th.
Madhavan, known for his versatile roles in over 600 films, began his acting career relatively late at the age of 40 with the 1975 film “Raagam.” Before venturing into films, he worked at an English newspaper and later started an advertising agency. He went on to leave his mark on Malayalam cinema, delivering memorable performances in films like “Nadodikkattu,” “Pandippada,” “Ordinary,” “Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayan,” “Nammal,” “Narasimham,” “Oru CBI Diary Kuruppu,” “Moonam Mura,” “Achuvettante Veedu,” “Sandesham,” and “Aaram Thampuran.”
He also served as the first general secretary of the Association for Malayalam Movie Artistes (A.M.M.A).
Fellow actor Jayaram, a close friend of Madhavan, shared his memories, stating, “He was a person with deep knowledge of everything. I used to spend time with him during shooting breaks and imitate him during my mimicry days.” Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also expressed his condolences.
In recent years, Madhavan had been residing at Gandhi Bhavan, an old age home in Pathanapuram. He reportedly suffered from amnesia.
The passing of TP Madhavan marks a significant loss for the Malayalam film industry. His contributions to the world of cinema will continue to inspire and entertain generations to come.
