**Kollam, India** – Renowned Malayalam actor TP Madhavan passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Kollam. The cause of death has not been revealed. Madhavan, 88, was a prominent figure in the Malayalam film industry, having starred in over 600 films during his illustrious career spanning four decades.
Madhavan began his acting journey at the age of 40 after meeting fellow actor Madhu. He debuted in the 1975 film “Raagam” and went on to play a variety of roles, from villainous characters to comic roles, eventually transitioning into character roles. His versatility earned him a devoted fan base.
Prior to his acting career, Madhavan ran advertising agencies in Mumbai and Kolkata. He was also selected for the Indian Army but was forced to withdraw after a hand fracture. Interestingly, Madhavan served as the first General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA).
In his later years, Madhavan was diagnosed with amnesia, which unfortunately brought an end to his acting career. Despite this, he was honored with the Ramu Karyat Award and the Prem Nazir Award for his contributions to the film industry.
Madhavan is survived by his daughter Devika and son Raja Krishna Menon, who is a renowned Bollywood director known for films like “Chef,” “Airlift,” and “Pippa.”
