**Kollam, Kerala:** Veteran Malayalam actor TP Madhavan passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Kollam, Kerala. He was 88. Madhavan, who had been suffering from age-related ailments, was admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Madhavan, known for his prolific career spanning over 600 Malayalam films, began acting after the age of 40. He made his debut in 1975 with the film “Raagam” and went on to become a prominent figure in the industry.
He was also the first general secretary of the Malayalam film actors’ association, AMMA.
In his later years, Madhavan faced difficult times but continued to act in television serials and films. He was last seen in the 2016 release “Maalgudi Days.”
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences, remembering Madhavan as a talented actor who portrayed a wide range of characters throughout his career.
Madhavan’s passing marks the end of an era in Malayalam cinema. He will be remembered for his contributions to the industry and his enduring legacy.
