Tue Oct 08 14:12:03 UTC 2024: ## Pakistan Dominate England in Multan Test, Shaan Masood Stars with Century
**Multan:** Pakistan took a commanding lead in the first Test against England, posting a mammoth 556 runs in their first innings at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Captain Shaan Masood led the way with a brilliant 151, while opener Abdullah Shafique also chipped in with a century (102).
The hosts, however, endured a shaky start after losing opener Sam Ayub cheaply in the fourth over. However, Masood and Shafique steadied the ship with a crucial 253-run partnership for the second wicket.
After Shafique’s dismissal, Masood continued his assault, reaching his century before eventually falling for 151. While Babar Azam, who was looking settled, fell for 30, the nightwatchman Naseem Shah played a crucial role with 33 runs.
The second day witnessed a collapse as Pakistan lost wickets in quick succession. While Mohammad Rizwan departed for a duck, Naseem Shah followed him soon after. However, Aga Salman and Saud Shakeel took control, putting on a valuable partnership. Shakeel missed out on a century, falling for 82, but Salman continued his onslaught, finishing unbeaten on 104.
Jack Leach was the pick of the English bowlers, bagging three wickets, while Brydon Carse and Gus Atkinson picked up two wickets each. Chris Woakes, Joe Root, and Shoaib Bashir took one wicket each.
With a massive first innings lead, Pakistan have put themselves in a strong position to win the first Test.
