**New Delhi:** Actress Nithya Menen has been awarded the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony held in Delhi. The award was bestowed upon her for her performance in the Tamil film “Thiruchitrambalam.”
President Droupadi Murmu presented the award to Menen, who graced the occasion in a beautiful saree.
“Thiruchitrambalam,” directed by Mithran R Jawahar, also won the award for Best Choreography for the song “Megham Karukutha Pennae Pennae,” choreographed by Johny Master and Satish.
The film, which starred Dhanush, Prakash Raj, Rashi Khanna, and Priya Bhavani Shankar, garnered critical acclaim for its realistic portrayal of characters and heartwarming story.
Nithya Menen, known for her performances in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, expressed her joy and gratitude for the honor.
“This is a moment I will never forget. It’s a moment to celebrate and enjoy,” she said, adding that she always aspires to work with the best directors and actors.
The 70th National Film Awards ceremony also saw Kannada actor Rishab Shetty win the award for Best Actor for his performance in “Kantara.”
