**Gurgaon, October 7th:** With the counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly elections scheduled for October 8th, the District Election Officer (DEO) of Gurgaon, Nishant Kumar Yadav, has conducted a thorough review of preparations to ensure a transparent and fair counting process.

Addressing a meeting of election officials at the State Girls’ College auditorium, the DEO issued specific instructions to the returning officers. “We need to ensure the counting process is carried out according to the Election Commission’s guidelines and in a transparent and impartial manner,” Mr. Yadav emphasized.

Here are key highlights of the counting process:

* **Counting Agents:** Candidates’ counting agents will be issued entry passes and must be present at the counting centre by 7:00 AM. They will be allowed to bring only Form 17C (Booth Summary Sheet) and will be provided pencils and paper inside the centre. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited.
* **Media Access:** A dedicated media centre will be established in the college seminar hall. Only authorized media personnel with passes will be allowed access to the counting centre premises. Photography and videography are not permitted inside the counting centre.
* **Counting Procedure:** The counting will commence at 8:00 AM, beginning with the postal ballots. From 8:30 AM onwards, EVMs will be counted at designated tables. The transportation of EVMs from the strong room to counting tables and back will be monitored through CCTV cameras and displayed on LED screens.
* **Multiple Counting Centres:** Two counting centres have been set up for each of the Gurgaon and Badshahpur constituencies, while one centre will serve Patudi and Sohna. The total number of counting centres is seven, including the one for postal ballots.
* **Security Measures:** Security arrangements are in place both inside and outside the counting centres, with police and paramilitary forces on duty. The public is advised to avoid gathering near the counting centres.

The DEO has assured the public that all necessary measures are in place for a smooth and transparent counting process. Officials are working diligently to ensure the successful completion of the election process.
