**Jaipur:** Jaipur Police have arrested two individuals, including a minor, for their involvement in a series of chain-snatching incidents across the city. The arrests came after a dramatic chase where one of the suspects sustained a fracture while attempting to flee.
The first arrest involved 20-year-old Akash Mehra, a resident of Malio Ki Dhani Muhana. Mehra was caught after a high-speed chase initiated by police in the Gaurav Tower area. During the pursuit, Mehra lost control of his bike, crashing and sustaining a leg and arm fracture. Police apprehended him at the scene and recovered 18 mobile phones from his possession. Mehra confessed to being involved in over 30 chain-snatching incidents.
The incident that led to his arrest involved the snatching of a bag containing a mobile phone and Rs. 8,000 from a woman in Sector-10 on September 15th.
In another incident, police apprehended two men, Anil Kumar Yogi (21) and Rahul (from Sahu Mohalla Chaksu), for their involvement in at least 15 chain-snatching incidents in the Vidhyadhar Nagar area. The duo was caught after a chase that led them to jump into a deep ditch, resulting in leg fractures.
The arrests came after a tip-off from an informant and the analysis of over 300 CCTV footages. The police officers involved in the chase praised the quick thinking and cooperation of the informants, leading to the apprehension of these criminals.
The Commissioner of Police, Biju George Joseph, has commended the efforts of the police teams involved in both cases, highlighting the commitment of the Jaipur police in ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
