**Bhopal:** The five-day of Shardiya Navratri, which began on October 3rd, is dedicated to the worship of Maa Skandamata, the fifth avatar of Maa Durga.

According to religious scriptures, Goddess Skandamata is known as the mother of Lord Skanda. She is revered for her peaceful and benevolent nature, represented by the white color she is associated with. Devotees believe that worshipping Skandamata fulfills all desires and opens the doors to liberation.

**How to Worship Skandamata:**

* **Early Morning Rituals:** Wake up early, bathe, and wear clean clothes.
* **Setting Up the Altar:** Place an image or idol of Goddess Skandamata at the spot where the Kalash (sacred pot) was established.

Goddess Skandamata is depicted sitting on a lotus, hence the name “Padmasana Devi.” She rides a lion and has four arms. In her upper right hand, she holds a lotus flower. The lower right arm cradles Lord Skanda. The upper left hand holds another lotus, while the lower left hand is in a gesture of blessing.
