Mon Oct 07 03:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Kamala Harris Slams ‘Childless Cat Lady’ Remark, Defends Modern Family

Vice President Kamala Harris has spoken out against the “childless cat lady” label, calling it “mean-spirited” and highlighting the diversity of modern families. In an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Harris, who is a stepmother of two, addressed recent comments made by Republican Vice President nominee JD Vance and Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Vance’s three-year-old video clip resurfaced online, in which he used the term to describe Harris. Harris responded, “I just think it’s mean and mean-spirited…The real measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you lift up.”

Sanders recently made a comment at a rally, stating that her children keep her humble and that Harris has no one to do the same. Harris countered, “I don’t think she understands that there are a whole lot of women out here who…have a lot of love in their life, family in their life, and children in their life. And I think it’s really important for women to lift each other up.”

Harris emphasized that her family, comprised of both her husband Doug Emhoff’s children from a previous marriage and their own family ties, exemplifies the modern family. “We have our family by blood, and then we have our family by love, and I have both, and I consider it to be a real blessing,” she said.

This isn’t the first time Harris has spoken out against comments regarding her family. She has previously addressed the term “childless” and highlighted the importance of embracing diversity in family structures. “This is not the 1950s anymore,” she stated. “Families come in all kinds of shapes and forms.”
