**Kathmandu, October 3 (PTI):** Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Bangladesh’s Minister for Forest, Environment, Climate Change, and Water Resources Syeda Rizwana Hasan met in Kathmandu on Thursday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, focused on expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the energy sector.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening the existing partnership, exploring new avenues for collaboration. The meeting saw discussions on enhancing cooperation in energy, among other areas.

The meeting took place amidst the signing of a tripartite energy agreement between Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. This agreement aims to facilitate the export of Nepalese electricity to Bangladesh via India. The signing ceremony was preceded by a Joint Steering Committee (JSC) meeting, co-chaired by Nepal’s Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya and Bangladesh’s Senior Secretary at the Power Division.

The power sales agreement was signed between Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Bangladesh Power Development Board, and NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (India). The agreement marks a significant step forward in regional energy cooperation, allowing Nepal to leverage its vast hydropower potential for the benefit of neighboring nations.
