**Karachi, Pakistan:** A powerful blast near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Sunday night claimed the life of one person and injured at least ten others. The explosion, which occurred near a traffic signal outside the airport, sent plumes of smoke into the air, visible from various parts of the city.
Local residents reported hearing the loud blast, which was felt across the city, including areas like North Nazimabad and Karimabad. Television footage showed smoke billowing from the site of the explosion, with a large fire engulfing a road nearby.
According to initial reports, the blast resulted from a car fire near the traffic signal, a location frequented by VIP vehicles. The fire reportedly spread to other vehicles parked in the area.
The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist militant group in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Journalists at the scene reported that the blast occurred on the road leading out of the airport. Authorities are currently investigating the incident and further information is expected soon.
