Fri Oct 04 23:16:38 UTC 2024: ## SpaceX OneWeb Launch Delayed Due to Booster Mishap

**Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA – October 1, 2024** – The launch of 20 microsatellites for the OneWeb constellation, originally scheduled for Sunday night, has been postponed due to a mishap involving a Falcon 9 second stage booster during the Crew 9 mission. The launch, which would have marked the final batch of OneWeb’s Gen 1 satellites to low Earth orbit, is now expected to take place no earlier than Tuesday, October 1.

The postponement comes after SpaceX experienced an off-nominal deorbit burn during the Crew 9 mission. While the second stage successfully landed in the ocean, it was outside of the targeted area. SpaceX is investigating the root cause of the mishap before resuming launches.

The OneWeb constellation, designed to provide global internet broadband service to consumers, is planned to consist of 648 microsatellites operating in Ku-band from low Earth orbit. The constellation will use a polar orbit, with each satellite weighing approximately 150 kg. The launch was initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, but was pushed back due to the Falcon 9 issue.

SpaceX is working to reschedule the launch as soon as possible. The company is confident that the issue can be resolved and the launch will proceed safely.
