Sat Oct 05 02:36:31 UTC 2024: ## Meghalaya SSA Teachers Demand Job Security, Issue Two-Month Ultimatum

**Shillong:** The Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSSA) has issued a two-month ultimatum to the state education department demanding a policy ensuring job security for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) teachers. The association, prioritizing job stability over salary increases, wants their employment status to be similar to teachers in other states.

MSSSA president, Aristotle Rymbai, stated that they will be pushing the government to secure the services of SSA teachers. The association has demanded the education department to complete the necessary formalities and submit a proposal to the state cabinet within the next two months.

Failing to meet these demands, Rymbai warned, will lead to “democratic agitation”. The MSSSA plans to meet with cabinet ministers, including Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, during the two-month period to ensure their demands are met.

The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, launched in 2018, aims to integrate school education from pre-school to class XII. The MSSSA’s demand for job security underscores the importance of teacher stability in ensuring a quality education for students.
