**New Delhi, India:** Tata Power has announced a massive investment in Rajasthan’s energy sector, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state government to develop a comprehensive range of power distribution, transmission, and green energy projects. The agreement, a key highlight of the “Rising Rajasthan Investor Meet,” aims to transform the state into a power surplus region, fueled by clean and reliable energy.
Tata Power will invest a staggering ₹1.2 trillion over the next decade, with a strong focus on renewable energy. The company plans to set up 10 GW of solar and hybrid renewable energy capacity across four districts, including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur. To support this ambitious goal, a ₹2,000 crore solar module manufacturing facility will be established in Jodhpur, creating a robust local solar manufacturing ecosystem.
Beyond renewable energy, Tata Power will invest ₹30,000 crore to modernize the state’s grid infrastructure, upgrading transmission and distribution networks to reduce energy losses. The company is also exploring opportunities to build a nuclear power plant in Rajasthan. Furthermore, Tata Power will invest ₹1,000 crore to install 100,000 electric vehicle charging points across the state, supporting the transition towards electric mobility.
This initiative aligns with India’s ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070. The project is expected to create over 28,000 direct jobs, boosting local industries in solar manufacturing and renewable energy innovation.
Tata Power, already a significant player in Rajasthan’s energy landscape, has commissioned 1 GW of solar, 185 MW of wind, and 130 MW of rooftop solar projects in the state. This new investment further solidifies its commitment to powering Rajasthan’s future with clean, sustainable energy.
