Mon Sep 30 18:20:53 UTC 2024: ## Former EPA Chief Mandy Gunasekara Claims Biden Administration is Targeting Her in “Deep State” Lawfare

**Oxford, MS** – Former Environmental Protection Agency Chief of Staff Mandy Gunasekara, a key figure in the Trump administration, has accused the Biden administration of engaging in “Deep State” lawfare, targeting her with a subpoena related to an ongoing criminal investigation. Gunasekara, a vocal critic of the Biden administration and author of the upcoming book “Y’all Fired: A Southern Belle’s Guide to Restoring Federalism and Draining The Swamp,” claims the timing of the subpoena is politically motivated.

In early May, two FBI agents and an EPA Inspector General representative visited Gunasekara’s office, serving her husband, Surya, with a subpoena. The agents indicated that a grand jury was being convened. Gunasekara believes the EPA’s decision to wait until the “eleventh hour” is a deliberate attempt to hinder her potential return to public service should former President Trump win the 2024 election.

“The partisans at EPA are taking preemptive steps to block me from returning in a leadership role,” Gunasekara stated in her piece for The Daily Caller. “Their goal is to sully my reputation with spurious charges, sink any potential confirmation vote, and deter the administration from hiring me to a senior role.”

The timing of the subpoena, coupled with the veiled threat against her husband’s past role at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, strengthens Gunasekara’s argument. She contends that the Biden administration, along with its allies, are attempting to financially cripple her through costly legal battles, a tactic she calls a “novel” form of political suppression.

Gunasekara’s allegations echo a growing sentiment among Republicans who believe the Biden administration is weaponizing the Justice Department for political gain. They point to the ongoing investigation into former President Trump and his associates as evidence of this alleged “Deep State” strategy.

“This is all the more reason to see the reform effort for what it is: a risky, deeply rooted problem made all the worse by the activists seeking to reinforce the status quo at any cost, no matter how immoral or illegal,” Gunasekara writes. “D.C. is a truly ‘nasty’ place,” she adds, calling on conservatives to prepare for the fight against the entrenched “Deep State.”

Gunasekara’s claims have sparked a debate about the politicization of government agencies and the potential for lawfare to be used against political opponents. Her upcoming book, scheduled to be released on October 1, 2024, is expected to delve deeper into these issues and offer a blueprint for reforming the federal government.
