Tue Oct 01 08:05:30 UTC 2024: ## Rohit Sharma Creates History, Blasts Two Sixes Off First Two Balls in Bangladesh Test

**Dhaka:** Indian captain Rohit Sharma scripted history in the second Test against Bangladesh on Thursday, becoming the first opener in the world to hit sixes off the first two balls of an innings.

The right-handed batsman smashed two consecutive sixes in the second over of the innings, racing to 23 runs off just 11 balls. This feat makes him the fourth batsman overall to achieve this remarkable feat.

Rohit’s explosive start, in partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, propelled India to a blistering start, reaching 50 runs in just three overs. This partnership also set a new record for the fastest 50 and 100 runs in Test cricket.

Jaiswal, who hit his maiden Test fifty off just 31 balls, also etched his name in the record books by registering the fastest half-century by an Indian opener in Test cricket.

The previous holder of the record for hitting sixes off the first two balls was West Indies’ Foffie Williams in 1947, while Sachin Tendulkar achieved this feat in 2013 against Australia in Chennai.

This record-breaking innings by Rohit and Jaiswal has set the tone for a potentially dominant performance by India in the second Test.
