Sat Sep 28 17:51:58 UTC 2024: ## Udhayanidhi Stalin Promoted to Deputy Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu Cabinet Reshuffle

**Chennai, Sep 28, 2024:** In a significant political development, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, has been elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister. The cabinet reshuffle, approved by Governor R N Ravi on Saturday, also saw the reinstatement of V Senthil Balaji, who was granted bail by the Supreme Court in a money laundering case.

Three ministers, including Mano Thangaraj, have been dropped from the cabinet. Balaji, who had resigned in February following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, has been reappointed along with Dr Govi Chezhiaan, R Rajendran, and S M Nasar.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, previously the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, will now also hold the portfolio of Planning and Development. The swearing-in ceremony for the new ministers is scheduled for Sunday at 3:30 pm at Raj Bhavan.

The reshuffle has been widely interpreted as a strategic move by the ruling DMK, strengthening its leadership and preparing for the upcoming elections.
