**Kolkata, September 30 (IANS):** Bollywood veteran Mithun Chakraborty has been bestowed with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honor, for his significant contribution to the film industry.

Expressing his gratitude, the “Disco Dancer” star shared his journey, highlighting his humble beginnings and the struggles he faced before achieving recognition. He dedicated the award to his family and fans worldwide, acknowledging their unwavering support.

Fellow actress Jayaprada, who has shared the screen with Chakraborty in numerous films, expressed her pride and joy at his achievement. She highlighted his “mahanayak” status and his contributions across various languages. Notably, she also mentioned their upcoming projects, “Rivaaz” and “Fauji,” where they are collaborating once again.

Chakraborty becomes the 54th recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, established in 1969 to honor the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema. Previous honorees include iconic figures like Prithviraj Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Raj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, B.R. Chopra, and Yash Chopra.

On the work front, Chakraborty will soon be seen in “Fauji,” alongside Prabhas, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi.
