**New Delhi, India:** Young Mumbai all-rounder Musheer Khan, brother of Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan, sustained a neck fracture in a car accident near Lucknow on Friday. He is expected to miss the upcoming Irani Cup and initial rounds of the Ranji Trophy.
Musheer was travelling to Lucknow for the Irani Cup, scheduled to start on October 1st, when the accident occurred. His SUV collided with a median and overturned, leaving him and his father with injuries.
“I want to thank Almighty for the new life,” Musheer said in a video posted on Instagram, reassuring fans about his well-being. His father, Naushad Khan, expressed gratitude for the prayers and support received, specifically thanking the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their assistance.
Musheer is currently stable and recovering at a hospital, but his participation in the upcoming tournaments remains uncertain. He will be flown to Mumbai for further evaluation and treatment once deemed medically fit. The MCA and BCCI medical teams are closely monitoring his progress.
The incident comes as a setback for Musheer, who has enjoyed a remarkable start to his first-class career. He has scored three centuries and a half-century in nine matches, including a double century in the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal last season.
The MCA is yet to name a replacement for Musheer in the Irani Cup squad, which is led by Ajinkya Rahane.
