Mon Sep 30 15:50:14 UTC 2024: ## Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Faces Land Scam Probe, Court Orders 3-Month Investigation
**Bengaluru, September 26, 2024:** The Bengaluru Special Court has ordered the Lokayukta to investigate a land scam case against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah within three months and submit a report.
The case stems from allegations that the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) allocated 14 residential plots in exchange for land acquired from Siddaramaiah’s wife, Parvathi. The value of the allocated plots was allegedly significantly higher than the acquired land, leading to accusations of corruption.
Following a complaint, Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot granted permission to investigate Siddaramaiah. He subsequently challenged the decision in the Karnataka High Court, but his petition was dismissed.
The Special Court, during its hearing yesterday, ordered the Lokayukta’s Mysore division to conduct the investigation within three months. This development has put immense pressure on Siddaramaiah’s position as Chief Minister.
Opposition parties, including the BJP and JD(S), are demanding his resignation. However, Siddaramaiah has maintained his innocence and stated he will face the allegations legally. He has also affirmed his commitment to staying in office, citing support from the Congress High Command and MLAs.
