Mon Sep 30 14:26:05 UTC 2024: ## Chhattisgarh Declares ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ as Dry Day
**Kondagaon, Chhattisgarh:** In observance of “Gandhi Jayanti” on October 2nd, 2024, the Kondagaon district administration has declared a “dry day” across the district, prohibiting the sale of all types of liquor. This decision aligns with the Chhattisgarh Excise Act of 1915 and its associated rules, specifically the Chhattisgarh Excise Indigenous and Foreign Liquor Retail Sale Licensing Management Rules 2018, as well as the order issued by the Chhattisgarh Excise Commissioner.
The order mandates the closure of all domestic CS2 (Ghag), foreign liquor shops FL1 (Ghag), and FL7 military canteens on October 2nd. Strict action will be taken against any illegal sale, possession, or transportation of liquor during this period.
This decision follows previous initiatives aimed at promoting public welfare, such as the implementation of the PM Janman Yojana for special backward tribal Pahari Korwa families in the district, as directed by Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai.
Similar measures have been implemented in other districts like Sarangarh Bilaigarh, where the district collector, Dharmesh Kumar Sahu, has declared a dry day on October 2nd, 2024.
Meanwhile, efforts continue to address public health concerns. In the Dhurpur Community Health Centre, a ‘Ayushman Pakhwada’ (Ayushman Fortnight) was observed on September 30th, 2024, to raise awareness about the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
These measures demonstrate the commitment of the Chhattisgarh government to public welfare and the observance of national holidays.
