**Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates:** South Africa cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Ireland in the first T20I of the series at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium on Friday night.
Ryan Rickelton (76 off 48) and Reeza Hendricks (51) powered the South African chase, putting on a 136-run opening stand to comfortably reach the 172-run target with 14 balls to spare.
Ireland, despite a bright start with Ross Adair’s 18 off 10, struggled to build momentum after losing early wickets. Curtis Campher, celebrating his 100th cap across all formats, top-scored with 49 off 36. Neil Rock’s 37 off 28 provided some support, but Ireland ultimately fell short at 171-8.
Craig Young and Mark Adair managed to break the opening partnership, but the damage had already been done by the South African duo.
