Sat Sep 28 02:04:35 UTC 2024: ## Daniel Ricciardo Exits Formula 1, Replaced by Liam Lawson at Red Bull
**Singapore, September 27, 2024** – Daniel Ricciardo, a fan favorite and eight-time F1 race winner, has been released by Red Bull Racing. His final race was the Singapore Grand Prix on September 22nd, where he set the fastest lap, securing a bonus point for the team.
Ricciardo, known for his infectious personality and “shoey” celebrations, acknowledged his departure, stating he hoped to use his time at Red Bull to make a case for returning to the main team, but that he didn’t get the desired result.
Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies thanked Ricciardo for his contributions and praised his work ethic and team spirit. He also welcomed Liam Lawson, a Red Bull reserve driver, who will replace Ricciardo for the remainder of the season.
Lawson, from New Zealand, has previously driven for Red Bull, notably replacing Ricciardo last year when the Australian broke his hand.
Ricciardo’s career saw him achieve a third-place finish in the championship in 2014 and 2016, both years where he was considered the “best of the rest” behind the dominant Mercedes team. His final win came in 2021 at Monza while driving for McLaren.
Ricciardo’s departure marks the end of a successful career and the beginning of a new chapter for the young New Zealander, Liam Lawson.
