Sat Sep 28 15:06:27 UTC 2024: ## Kejriwal To Vacate CM Residence, Seeking New Home Near Constituency

**New Delhi:** Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener Arvind Kejriwal will soon vacate the Chief Minister’s residence in Civil Lines, Delhi. The party confirmed on Saturday that he is looking for accommodation near his New Delhi Assembly constituency, from where he is also an MLA.

According to news agency ANI, AAP sources stated that an intensive search is underway for a new address close to his constituency. The party is prioritizing a new home for Kejriwal, who will soon be moving out of the CM residence.

“Arvind Kejriwal is prioritizing living near New Delhi to stay connected with the people he represents as an MLA. Several MLAs, councilors, party workers, and common people are offering him their homes. Kejriwal is looking for a property that is free from any controversy and poses no difficulties for him to live there,” said the AAP in a statement.

Kejriwal resigned as CM on September 17th, days after being released from Tihar jail in connection with the alleged liquor policy case. Atishi was subsequently chosen by AAP MLAs to be the new Chief Minister.

During his resignation announcement, Kejriwal stated that he would only return to the Chief Minister’s chair after securing a fresh mandate and a “certificate of honesty” from the people of Delhi in the upcoming Assembly elections, scheduled for February 2025.

Atishi took oath as Delhi’s Chief Minister on September 22nd, succeeding Kejriwal. In a gesture of emotion towards him, she placed an empty chair next to her CM chair, saying “This chair belongs to Arvind Kejriwal.”
