Tue Sep 24 04:10:57 UTC 2024: ## Congress Leader Kumari Selja Reassures Party Loyalty Amidst Election Speculation

**Gurugram, September 23, 2024:** Putting an end to speculation surrounding her possible exit from the Congress party, prominent Scheduled Caste leader and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has declared her unwavering loyalty to the party. Selja, whose recent absence from the Haryana Assembly election campaign sparked rumours, stated that “the blood of the Congress runs in her veins”, echoing her father, veteran Congress leader Dalbir Singh, who she said would “leave the world draped in the party’s flag.”

Selja’s comments come in response to reports suggesting she was disgruntled with the party leadership and considering a switch to another party. She addressed these rumours directly, stating that “rumours were being spread that Selja can this join this party or that party.” She dismissed offers from BJP leaders to join their party, highlighting her “longer political career” than many of them and asserting that she and her party “know how to choose their paths.”

While acknowledging some “internal party issues” that arose following ticket distribution, Selja clarified that these were not publicly discussable. She confirmed that she would resume campaigning for Congress candidates, emphasizing the party’s “forward momentum” and the people’s “hope” in the Congress.

Addressing the issue of not being given a ticket to contest the Assembly election, Selja stated that the final decision on ticket distribution was made with the party’s approval. She reaffirmed her desire to contest from Uklana, her hometown, a stance she had publicly expressed earlier.

Congress sources have confirmed that party chief Mallikarjun Kharge reached out to Selja, urging her to resolve differences with former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and focus on winning the election. Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Surjewala further confirmed Selja’s commitment to the campaign, announcing a joint campaign on September 26th. Selja’s decisive declaration of loyalty and her subsequent return to the campaign trail are a significant boost for the Congress party in the lead-up to the Haryana Assembly elections.
