**New Delhi:** Delhi Congress President Devender Yadav has accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of being forced to resign due to court restrictions and mounting pressure over corruption allegations. Yadav, in a statement on Sunday, criticized Kejriwal’s claims of resigning for the sake of the country, stating that the public wants to know what happened to the promises of ending corruption, especially after numerous AAP leaders were imprisoned on corruption charges.
Yadav further questioned the whereabouts of Kejriwal’s promises of development, including the construction of 500 schools and hospitals, and the provision of free water. He highlighted the ongoing issue of dirty water supply and the encouragement of tanker mafias, directly contradicting Kejriwal’s earlier claims.
In response to Kejriwal’s assertion that he was motivated by the country’s betterment, Yadav pointed out the hypocrisy in his leaders’ demands for government housing after his resignation, contrasting it with his previous vow to run his activities from a modest residence.
The statement comes in the wake of Kejriwal’s resignation following his release from Tihar jail on bail in connection with the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam. Kejriwal maintains that he resigned out of a lack of greed for the CM’s chair and a commitment to fighting for the country’s welfare.
