Sun Sep 22 16:11:12 UTC 2024: ## Modi Addresses Indian Diaspora in New York Amidst Enthusiastic Welcome

**New York, NY** – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his three-day visit to the United States with a grand reception by the Indian community in New York. At the ‘Modi and US’ event held at the Nassau Coliseum on Sunday, PM Modi was welcomed by thousands of Indian Americans chanting “Modi, Modi,” waving “Welcome Modi” posters in various languages, and enjoying traditional Indian dance performances. Over 500 artists are set to showcase their talents throughout the event.

This event follows PM Modi’s participation in the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Delaware, hosted by President Joe Biden on Saturday. During the summit, Modi emphasized the importance of a rules-based international order and respect for sovereignty, seen as a veiled criticism of China. He also engaged in one-on-one discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

On the sidelines of the Quad Summit, PM Modi addressed a Cancer Moonshot event, an initiative aimed at combatting cervical cancer.

Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the Indian community event, tweeting, “The Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors. It’s always a delight to interact with them.”

In addition to his address to the Indian community, PM Modi will participate in several high-profile engagements during his visit, including addressing the Summit of the Future at the United Nations General Assembly on Monday. He is also scheduled to participate in a roundtable with American CEOs involved in cutting-edge technologies like AI, quantum computing, and semiconductors.

Former US President Donald Trump has announced plans to meet with PM Modi, but this has not been officially confirmed by either side.
