**BERLIN, GERMANY** – Team World surged ahead in the Laver Cup on Saturday, thanks to a dominant doubles victory by Ben Shelton and Alejandro Tabilo over Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud (6-1, 6-2). The win gave Team World an 8-4 lead over Team Europe at the end of day two.

Earlier in the day, American Taylor Fritz defeated Alexander Zverev (6-4, 7-5), securing his third win over the world number two and putting Team World ahead. However, Shelton had previously lost his singles match to Carlos Alcaraz (6-4, 6-4), which saw the overall score tied at 4-4.

“I love playing here, I love the format, singles and doubles,” Shelton said after the doubles win. “I couldn’t get it done in the singles but I wanted to come here tonight and redeemed myself.”

Team World will look to capitalize on their lead as the Laver Cup heads into its final day on Sunday. Victories on the final day are worth three points each, making the competition even more intense.
