Sun Sep 22 10:51:32 UTC 2024: ## Pant Hits Century on Test Return, Leads India to Victory Over Bangladesh
**Chennai:** Rishabh Pant, returning to Test cricket after a two-year injury layoff, made a triumphant comeback with a brilliant century in India’s second innings against Bangladesh in the first Test. His century, along with a century partnership with Shubman Gill, propelled India to a convincing 280-run victory, giving them a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
Speaking after the match, Pant expressed his joy and emotions about his return, saying, “I love playing in Chennai. I was coming back from an injury across all three formats. This was my first Test match after that, so it’s a moment I’m celebrating every single day. It was a bit emotional. I wanted to do well in every match I played.”
He further elaborated on his comeback, “It felt really good to be back in Test cricket. I got a bit emotional after the century, but at the end of the day, being out there on the field is the most important thing for me. I don’t know what people say about me, but I understand things my way. We were 3 down for 30, and I wanted to build a partnership. I had someone out there with me who I have a good relationship with.”
Pant’s 109 runs in the second innings, alongside Gill’s unbeaten 119, resulted in a crucial 167-run partnership, playing a pivotal role in India’s dominant victory.
