Fri Sep 20 13:32:41 UTC 2024: ## Apple Unveils New AirPods 4: Noise Cancellation Meets Open Design

Apple’s latest AirPods iteration, the AirPods 4, has arrived, boasting a groundbreaking combination of open design and effective active noise cancellation (ANC). The company has been working tirelessly to perfect the earbud experience since the first wired iPod earbuds, and the AirPods 4 is a testament to this dedication.

The key challenge was to achieve ANC on open earbuds, a feat that required years of research and development. Apple’s acoustic engineers, led by Vice President of Hardware Engineering Kate Bergeron, and marketing director Eric Treski, tackled this head-on, utilizing the company’s extensive data on ear shapes and the powerful H2 chip.

The result? A completely redesigned earbud with a new “snorkel” design, allowing for better fit and sound quality while still delivering a comfortable open-ear experience. The H2 chip also allows for real-time monitoring and adjustment of ANC, ensuring the noise blocking remains effective even as the AirPods move around.

The AirPods 4 also features a revised case, thinner and simpler to use, with an IP54 rating for water resistance.

While the AirPods 4 marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Apple’s earbuds, Bergeron emphasizes that the journey continues, with a constant focus on improving fit, comfort, and sound quality. This unwavering commitment to innovation ensures that Apple will continue to deliver cutting-edge audio experiences for its users.
